April 27th, 2011 (Day 117)

I had an interesting day today. My best friend Annie's mom invited me to go to a letter writing protest event with her since she knows my future career as a social worker is going to be compromised due to all this local government bullshit that is going on.

We were early for the event and had a nice scenic drive around the historic neighborhoods in Mt. Clemens. I never knew Mt. Clemens had such nice neighborhoods! I love all the old houses.

The historic Crocker House.

My letter to the horrible governor, Rick Snyder.

We are the people! Let our voices be heard. :)

April 26th, 2011 (Day 116)

The end is near! My semester is officially over. My internship is officially over. I put in a 14 hour day today which was exhausting to get all of my remaining hours completed. After interning 8am to 10pm I came back to my apartment and started packing up my stuff.

It is kind of sad to be moving out. I love this apartment and the location. Living in Detroit is a lot of fun. Too bad I don't have more money!

April 25th, 2011 (Day 115)

Let the birthday festivities begin! My 21st birthday is exactly a week from today. The two most exciting things about turning 21? Going to Vegas (May 5-9) and getting a new driver's license! I'm probably abnormal in my thinking though!

I get a free birthday burger coupon from Red Robin every year. I signed Lauren up for it too and we both got ours in the mail yesterday, so we decided to go out to lunch for free today and get our birthday burgers. They also brought us free birthday sundaes. It was a really yummy birthday lunch and even better because all we had to pay was the tip!

April 24th, 2011 (Day 114)

Happy Easter!

I celebrated Easter the usual way. Went to Mina and Papa's for dinner. This year there was even more Polish food than usual. Pierogi, kielbasa, and something that I have no idea how to spell (it sounds like svien-sonka, I should ask Gabi how it's spelled, haha!) My plate also has ham, cucumber salad (my favorite that my grandma makes for me on every holiday even if it is summer food!) and cheesy potatoes on it. Yum!

April 23rd, 2011 (Day 113)

I had a really really nice day! The weather was gorgeous. Lauren and I took Bella and Oliver for a walk around the neighborhood. We noticed that our old friend Lacey's car was at her mom's house. Lacey and her twin sister Camile were our best friends growing up. They live across the street and 14 houses down. They moved to Austin, TX after we graduated. We ended up hanging out with Lacey later that day after we found out she is going to home home for the summer. It was so nice to just sit and chat and catch up with an old friend you haven't seen in YEARS!

Hanging out with Lacey, who wasn't interested in having her picture taken!

After hanging out with Lacey, I went to Laura's for the first bonfire of the year. Everyone was home from school for the weekend for Easter. Just a couple more weeks and the semester will be wrapped up and it will be summer! It was awesome to sit around a bonfire with my closest friends!

Overall this was a very good day!

April 22nd, 2011 (Day 112)

I'm still dogsitting in the GP! It was kind of the perfect weekend because I had a lot of end of the semester stuff to wrap up. Last night I wrote my final 7 page paper. Today I had to watch the movie What's Eating Gilbert Grape and do a bio-psycho-social evaluation on the main character and write up a therapy plan for him as a follow-up.

I was able to get my homework done in the company of my cute little snuggle-buddy, Jack.

April 21st, 2011 (Day 111)

Today I started house sitting in Grosse Pointe. Sarah came to visit and we walked around the neighborhood where I'm staying and went to The Village. On the way to The Village, I took some pictures of some of the houses I liked. It was a really good day, the weather was gorgeous.

This was Sarah's favorite house.

Although there are a good deal of A-frame houses in the GP area, I'm slightly obsessed with them, so they might be overrepresented in this blog post. I would love to live in one one day!

April 20th, 2011 (Day 110)

The best part of my holiday was celebrating with my favorite girl!

April 19th, 2011 (Day 109)

Today I fulfilled one of my many roles: intern. Next week is my last week at Safehaus and I will really miss being there. I feel like it was such a great placement for my first internship. It totally opened my eyes to the possibility of working in mental health area of social work. I had no prior interest and now I can definitely see myself doing something like this in the future. I guess that is what internships are all about. Testing out the waters and getting experience with different things :)

My cute little lanyard complete with my badge that makes me feel so official. And a whistle that I haven't had the chance to use. And keys. Woo!

April 18th, 2011 (Day 108)

I went to Secretary of State to renew my license today! I took my picture and got my application done for my new 21 year old big girl driver's license. I'm pretty excited for it to come. Hopefully it'll come in the mail before we leave for our trip to Vegas. Our birthday is on a Monday (exactly 2 weeks from today!) and we leave for Vegas on Thursday of that week.

Going to Secretary of State is always the worst. The lady who helped us was actually really nice and made the process kind of fun!

I'm excited to turn 21. It seems so old though! Where has my life gone? At least I'm really happy with where I am right now! :)

April 17th, 2011 (Day 107)

The majority of this day was wasted on frustrating, annoying, homework. As the semester wraps up, there are so many loose ends to tie. It gets old pretty fast! I was downtown at the library on campus for the better part of the day working on a group project and a final.

Oh the joys of college life!

April 16th, 2011 (Day 106)

Easter is coming! I went shopping with Lauren today and she got this card for her boyfriend as a joke. It totally cracked me up.

I actually really love Easter and I'm excited it's only a week away!

April 15th, 2011 (Day 105)

It was just one of those days today. Super intense. I'll probably never forget this day.

Bella sums it up nicely. You just want someone to scratch your head and make it all better!

April 14th, 2011 (Day 104)

Self explanatory. My neighbors have this sticker on their front door and every time I pass it in the hallway it makes me smile.

April 13th, 2011 (Day 103)

Today I went to the DIA with Sarah. She fit in really well with these masks. :P

I wanted to steal this for my room.

We went out to lunch after and while I was enjoying my hummus and fattoush pita...I looked down on my finger and there was a wee little heart shaped piece of lettuce. It was so cute!

April 12th, 2011 (Day 102)

My bed is seriously amazing and that is all I have to say about today. It was just one of those days!

Monday, April 11, 2011

April 11th, 2011 (Day 101)

Today my tattoo is looking way less sore and red! Here is a picture of the finished product next to what I originally had done. I love it so much!

Sunday, April 10, 2011

April 10th, 2011 (Day 100)

I spent the large majority of my day in the car with my oldest friend. The comfortable silence as we listened to music with the windows down and the gorgeous breeze blowing through was very peaceful.

Goodbye Florence, KY!

The warm sun setting behind us in the rear view mirror.

April 9th, 2011 (Day 99)

The big day finally came! I finally got my back tattoo turned into a tree. I will just show a teaser picture of the outline she did of it before she actually did the tattoo. The picture of the finished tattoo will come once it has healed!

April 8th, 2011 (Day 98)

Today was a pretty awesome day in Kentucky! We had the whole day to spend doing whatever. We woke up, hung out for a bit, went to visit Britt's friend and had lunch, and then drove to the spot where there is a memorial tree planted for the good friend Britt lost a couple years ago. After that we went to a park and hung out by this little stream and just enjoyed the gorgeous weather and being outside!

Brittany with Laura's memorial tree and plaque (the tree hasn't bloomed for the season yet but it is a flowering tree with pretty little flowers all on the ends).

Exploring nature.

My best friend of 12 years <3

April 7th, 2011 (Day 97)

Today I left for a 5 hour road trip with my oldest friend Brittany and her boyfriend Milton. Britt used to live down in Kentucky with her dad for a few years and now it he is packing up his house and moving to Florida. So we drove down to get some of his furniture he isn't taking down to FL for her apartment up in Michigan and also so she can clean out her old room.

I got to be the child in the backseat the entire ride. We hit traffic which was super annoying but we made it through!

Saviour by Lights (along with a hefty amount of Regina Spektor and Pearl Jam) got me through the trip!

April 6th, 2011 (Day 96)

I've totally been enjoying spending time with my new friend Sarah.

Her cross eyed face makes me laugh.

Tuesday, April 5, 2011

April 5th, 2011 (Day 95)

My days left at my internship are limited! I think I have 7 more days there. I'll be sad to leave. The two bosses have been talking about hiring me for part time work once my internship is done and I'll be glad if it works out!

Where else in the world do I get to spend part of my day having a crazy flashback to my own (pre) teen years reading the Chicken Soup books? Of course just about every single story makes me cry. I'm such a sap!

April 4th, 2011 (Day 94)

I babysat the neighbors across the street for a bit today. It's funny. They moved in probably 6 years ago and I've watched their family grow from the parents pregnant with their first baby to now having 3 little kids! Their youngest is already 10 months old. I can't believe how fast she grew. She has the cutest little baby feet!

April 3rd, 2011 (Day 93)

We bid farewell to Ross today. He will be living in California for 2 more months and then moving back home. We went out to brunch to say goodbye. There were 4 of us out to eat and this was how many cups were on the table. For some reason it amused me enough that I took a picture of it.

Saturday, April 2, 2011

April 2nd, 2011 (Day 92)

I always feel fat when food is my picture of the day but this German chocolate cake was too amazing not to represent the day. We celebrated my great uncle's birthday at my grandparents house and my grandma made him a German chocolate cake from scratch. It was amazing.

I was very gluttonous today.

April 1st, 2011 (Day 91)

April First is Oliver's adoption day! We adopted him 4 years ago today. He is seriously the best dog ever. I'm so happy he is my baby boy!
